Light in Darkness
-Anna W
When I open the
back door,
I can see you.
When I watch a
baseball game,
I can see you.
When my day
has been long,
I can see you.
When I look at
the fireplace,
I can see you.
When I watch
the squirrels,
I can see you.
When there are
tracks in the snow,
I can see you.
I am comforted always,
For I can see you.
So, thank you.
Thank you,
Slugger.
--
My family adopted Slugger in Louisville, KY when I was young.
(note, his name is from the Louisville Slugger baseball bat.)
He was a just a mutt in most people's eyes,
but to me he was my childhood comfort, and a very smart dog.
He was a frisbee dog who never barked or jumped.
He loved people and playing anytime, anywhere.
We had to put him down this year because of a heart problem.
He just wouldn't stop playing until that last day.
That day he could barely move, and just a tail wag was exciting to see.
We knew he had to be relieved of his pain.
I never really noticed how much of a difference he made
in my life, until he was gone.
I still miss him, and I don't think I'll ever stop.
I hope that you can or have all had someone or something like Slugger was to me in your life.
I know that Slugger is still alive to this day, watching me.
I just hope I don't disappoint him.
Love,
Anna Lauren

He looks like he was a beautiful dog, unfortunatly the only pic I have of my dog isn't his best. I took it with a camera that shouldn't have been produced ever again. I can see that you realize that Slugger isn't gone, and that he will always be with you, and I hope that you realize that even if we don't see each other all the time because of marching band, that if you need to talk I will be there, you just need to snag me in the hallway and we can set up a time or if we have no off hours together then we could schedual some other time together. Never feel alone, I am always willing to listen, about anything, in any pitch, and in any volume.
